Solve Computer Lockup

Reliability Monitor and Event Viewer

Computer lockup is not an uncommon problem. However, Windows tools are great applications to fix this particular problem. Many people become frustrated trying to guess the cause of there Windows freeze. Tools such as the reliability monitor and the event view take a lot of the guess work out the equation. Step 1: Use the Reliability Monitor

The reliability monitor gives you a detail graphical representation of all the system and software problems that haven occurred on your PC. Its a wealth of information that will allow you to pinpoint the cause of computer lockup.

How to Open the Reliability Monitor

1. Open the Windows Control Panel.
2. Click on the Action Center entry
3. Expand the maintenance tab
4. Click on View reliability history under Check for solutions to problem reports.

OR

1. The simplest way to start this tool is with Win+R, perfmon.exe or simply type perform into the Start search bar.

1. Click Start
2. Choose Control Panel
3. System and Maintenance
4. Performance Information and Tools
5. Click on the Advanced Tools
6. At the top of the Advanced Tools window, you may see something listed under Performance Issues.

Use Reliability Monitor to stop lockup



You can detailed information on the problem. By double clicking the red color "X". This will give the result of the critical event.

Once you have identified what happened during the critical event you can search for a solution. Windows has its own database of possible solutions.However, checking for solutions option will also search online for possible answer to your computer lockup problem.



After the solution search process, you will be given a workable solution or provided with the exact error code. You can use this area code to find out what the next steps in the repair process by searching online



Step 2: Use the Event Viewer

The event viewer is a detailed tree that will allow you to view all files or applications that were accessed within a specified period. The two sections that you should pay special attention are Critical and Error

1.Click Start
2.Click Control Panel
3. Click System and Maintenance
4. Click Administrative Tools
5. Double-Click Event Viewer.
6. Under Windows logs, Click System tab
7. Check for red errors icons and the exclamation icons.



The event viewer is basically provides the same functions as the reliability monitor. However, not all events are posted on the reliability monitor only those that caused a disruption. So you can use the event viewer to see what events occurred leading up to your computer lockup.
