Downloads and online video streaming very slow

Hi All,

I recently bought a Dell Inspiron which in Windows 7, the configuration is I3 processor 2.53 GHZ, 3GB RAM. I downloaded thinking that it would be faster than internet explore 9, it is fast alright...but only for checking mails...the online streaming and downloads still remains at a very slow pace...I have tried different options which I got on the net but still no joy.....I tried changing the virtual memory but still no use....I checked my internet speed as well...it's is 54 mbps of speed...so i think I am ok on the speed as well...any tips or help on this would be of great help
